GET RID OF DIABETES!
Here is a sweet news for Diabetics!
I would like to share the information I read about the special medicinal quality of CINNAMON.
When does adding something more to your plate help you lose weight?
When what you're adding is a sprinkle of cinnamon, it seems. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2009 showed that when a teaspoon of the flavorsome spice was added to rice pudding, insulin levels of subjects stayed low in comparison with those who didn't have the cinnamon.
In another study from a Maryland USDA research centre, scientists found that when cinnamon was added to apple pie, eating the pie did not cause the expected raise in blood sugar, despite its being a sweet dessert. Cinnamon was found to actually increase the insulin sensitivity of cells, which is key to glucose metabolism.
In a further study, when 60 diabetic patients in Pakistan were given cinnamon they had reduced blood sugar, increased insulin production (which is too low in diabetics), and lowered blood cholesterol. What's more, the beneficial effects were still there 20 days after treatment ended.
In short, what this means is that cinnamon can help weight loss and reduce the risk of diabetes by improving the function of blood glucose and insulin. The main active ingredient in this case is a compound called MCHP. Keeping insulin levels normalised is key to weight loss because excess insulin causes any glucose not burned as fuel to be laid down in fat cells.
It is also thought that cinnamon may slow the rate of gastric emptying, which means less of a spike in blood sugar levels and, in turn, less of a spike in insulin levels.
The suggested daily amount of cinnamon to use is around half a teaspoon. Cinnamon contains a moderately toxic compound called coumarin, which also gives cinnamon very high antioxidant value, so to be beneficial it should be used in small quantities only. Sprinkle it on your porridge, pancakes, baked fruit, apple pie, or hot drinks. Whoever thought that something so nice could actually be good for you?
